Scarlet
Princess Scarlet's world is shattered when her father is brutally murdered. After failing to exact revenge, she awakens in a surreal realm—the “Land of the Dead”—where existence itself is threatened if she doesn’t reach the elusive "unseen place." Driven by vengeance yet teetering on the edge of oblivion, Scarlet embarks on a time-bending quest filled with peril and emotional reckoning.
Along the way, she encounters Hijiri, a kind-hearted modern-day nurse who challenges her fixation on revenge, offering hope for healing and a life beyond hatred. Together, they must confront fate, love, and what it truly means to live.
Scarlet is the newest film from Mamoru Hosoda, the visionary filmmaker behind The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, Summer Wars, Wolf Children, Mirai (Academy Award nominee for Best Animated Feature), and Belle.

The Last Blossom
The Last Blossom (Hōsenka) is a poignant, character-driven animated drama that follows Minoru Akutsu, an aging inmate serving a life sentence, as he awaits death alone in his prison cell. His solitary existence is interrupted when a balsam flower (hōsenka) — improbably alive and able to speak — begins commenting on his life, prompting Akutsu to reflect on his past. Through surreal conversations with the flower, we’re transported back to summer 1987, when a younger Akutsu — a low-ranking yakuza — lived with Nana Nagata and her son Kensuke, finding fleeting happiness before a desperate turn leads him into a dangerous crime, misplaced loyalties, and a fight for redemption. This intimate portrait of life, regret, love, and consequence explores whether even the most troubled past can be met with quiet acceptance and meaning.

Retro - AKIRA

In the neon-lit sprawl of Neo-Tokyo, rebuilt after a mysterious explosion devastated Tokyo decades earlier, biker gang leader Shotaro Kaneda finds his world upended when his volatile best friend Tetsuo Shima is caught in a secret government experiment that unlocks terrifying psychic powers. As Tetsuo’s abilities spiral out of control, military forces, underground resistance fighters, and shadowy scientists clash in a desperate struggle to contain a force that could trigger another cataclysm — one linked to a mysterious entity known only as Akira. What begins as a street-level rivalry explodes into an apocalyptic confrontation that questions power, identity, and humanity’s capacity for self-destruction.
From a Landmark of Animation History:
Directed by manga creator Katsuhiro Otomo and adapted from his own groundbreaking manga series, Akira revolutionized global perceptions of Japanese animation upon its 1988 release. Produced by Tokyo Movie Shinsha (now TMS Entertainment), the film was one of the most expensive anime productions of its time, celebrated for its fluid character animation, richly detailed cyberpunk cityscapes, and mature storytelling.
